How Sample Requests are Reviewed and Approved

Requests are reviewed by NMDP staff, who determine if samples are available and if further approval by one of the NMDP scientific committees is required. If no committee review is needed, the approval process is usually immediate.

If committee approval is necessary, NMDP staff will forward the request to the appropriate scientific committee (Research and Publications Committee or Histocompatibility Committee). Committee review usually requires 10 business days.

If a request is approved and samples are available, the requestor will be notified, and asked to complete and sign the Agreement for Sharing Research Samples (PDF), make payment and provide a shipping address for the samples.

If the request is denied or delayed, if additional information is needed, or if samples are unavailable, the requestor will be notified by phone, fax or e-mail.
